Because of the great teachers we host, our clinics fill up
fast.
If you see something you like below, please contact me ASAP.
We limit the number of riders at each event so every horse & student get
personal attention,
but there is never a limit for spectators in our cozy barn overlooking the
arena.
| Baja Rancho La
Mentada March
22-24th 2002 Cost $285 per person includes all meals, horses & accommodations. |
The Aguiar and Loperena families welcome you to step back in time with them and visit their homestead in the Foothills of the Sierra Madres. Just south of the border, before Ensenada, La Mentada is a working cattle guest ranch offering great food, private rooms, hot showers, fine horses in the center of 13,000 acres where you may ride to your hearts delight. Each year we gather a group of friends together to visit the ranch, ride, rope and rest under starry skies. We had a great time in 2002 (wow you missed an awesome ride from the beach to the ranch) and we are planning to return again for this private trip next May 2003. Contact us if you want to come along. We will return in JULY 2002 FOR Le Mentada's LAZADERA De VAQUERO (Ranch Roping Competition with horsemen from all over Baja). We will take the whole family. Join us! Email me for more information. See Beth Anne's La Mentada stories under reports/articles. |

Ranch Fun-Work Party! Backcountry Horsemen & Volunteer
Trails Maintenance Unit of Cuyamaca State Park. May 11 & 12 and Sept. 28 & 29
We are fortunate to have the Park around us and believe it is important to give back and take care if it. |
This is your chance to have some
fun, give back to the Cuyamaca Park and get to know other good horse
folks. We gather and saddle up Saturday morning by 9:00 to ride out to the
designated trail (or ride in vehicles to the nearest access). After tying
up the horses, Bernie Martin and the chain saw crew start cutting brush.
Most of the rest of us drag brush to hide it off the trail. Others come
along and neaten up the smaller branches, clear rocks, break down the berm
on the edge of the trail, supply the crew with oil and gas for the saws or
water for workers. There is something for everybody. If you are not
physically up to the labor part of the work, come bring a book and hang
with the horses so we know they are OK. On Saturday night there will be a
Potluck, Sunday we have a 2-3 hour fun ride to congratulate
ourselves. Bring gloves, water, lunch, a chair, potluck food (not dessert). We'll have a continental breakfast each morning. Folks can camp over at Oakzanita Ranch starting Friday night (some people come up and ride on their own on Friday). RSVP 619-445-1289 so we can let the Park know how many supervisors and tools are needed. Visit www.oakzanitaranch.com for more information & directions. |
