Granite Hills v Chula Vista
Sept 19th @ Otay Ranch

Fans of the Granite Hills JV Eagles football team almost filled the entire visitor section of the Otay Ranch high school stadium to see the Eagles play the Chula Vista Spartans. The fans were treated to an excellent game with the Eagles winning their 3rd consecutive game of the season by the score of  35 - 15.

The first 30 seconds of the first half saw a great defensive play by linebacker Jordan Wilson picking off a pass play and running it into the Spartan end zone for a touchdown. Two running plays for touchdowns; one by Kevin Valenzuela and one by Gilbert Perez, and a touchdown pass to Gilbert Perez resulted in a significant first half Eagles lead of 28 - 7. The defense virtually stopped the Spartan running plays resulting in the Spartans having to rely on their passing plays for yardage and sole touchdown against the Eagles in the first half.

The defense continued to shine in the second half; again stopping almost all running plays and allowing only a single Spartan passing touchdown with a 2-point conversion. Another Eagles touchdown run by Gilbert Perez and an interception by linebacker Caleb Kestel clinched the Eagles victory.

Some additional noteworthy player and game highlights are: (1) Gilbert Perez, scoring two running touchdowns, a passing touchdown, and kicking 4 after-touchdown points. Gilberts total offensive score contribution alone was 22 points. (2) Kevin Valenzuela ran for a total of 93 yards and a touchdown.

Again, the final score was a Granite Hills Eagles win of 35 - 15
